Dennys began coaching Under 9’s for the Hornsby Heights Sports Club in 1992 and also joined the HHSC Committee during that year where he was responsible for uniform distribution and purchases up until the amalgamation with the Berowra Baseball Club.
In the first year of the Rangers Baseball Club, Dennys continued coaching baseball up until A squad in 2007. Initially in support of Fiona Hokin in 2000, Dennys coached a squad of 24 U19’s in 2001 and 2002 in an attempt to maintain links with capable RBC juniors. This was a successful outcome which resulted in the formation of a skilful B Grade squad. His total coaching contribution was made over 15 continuous years.
Dennys renewed his interest in baseball administration and joined the RBC committee in 2002 as the Vice President, Seniors. He continued in that role up to 2006 when Dane Wright took over the role. He was the PCBL Delegate from 2003 through 2006 and represented the RHBL on the Hornsby Shire Sports Council in 2005 and 2006. A notable achievement that happened during that latter period was the submission of a formal application and subsequent gazetting of improved lighting at Rofe Park.
In 2003 Dennys achieved the Level 2 Baseball qualification and used this experience to provide coaching schedules for the non-live ball junior teams as well as the Try Tee Ball and Try Baseball days. The qualification also proved invaluable when coaching the B Grade Squad and the provision of assistance with the A Grade squad. Dennys also ran personalised coaching sessions with seniors across all teams who requested assistance with batting and pitching. Dennys also helped organised the junior and senior grading days from 2003 until 2006.
Dennys worked tirelessly to create a senior RANGER’S club spirit. He was inducted as a life member of the RBC in 2007.
