Brad Rockwell was a cherished member of the baseball community not just as a player, but as a committee member, coach, umpire, volunteer and friend to all. A passionate advocate of junior player development, Brad served with distinction on the Rangers Baseball Club committee as Junior Vice President, volunteering his time and vast expertise in all facets of the game both on and off the field.
A tremendous player in his own right, Brad represented Rangers proudly at both the World Masters and Pan Pacific Games as well as in the Pacific Coast and NSW Baseball Leagues earning numerous awards and accolades and the respect of all that played with and against him.
A baseball family, Brads wife Nicky served for many years on Rangers executive committee as Club Secretary, generously devoting considerable time and financial support to the club that has immeasurably shaped Rangers success in recent years. The Rockwell family would generously donate equipment, clothing and supplies to the club whilst also being key figures in fund raising initiatives. Brad and Nickys children all played for Rangers in the junior competition, going on to gain representative honours and all exceptionally talented athletes in their own right.
A tremendous character who brought much joy to all those around him, “The Rock” as he was a fondly dubbed, was a fitting moniker for a much loved figure who was the cornerstone of not only the teams he played in, but the foundation for countless relationships that will be a part of the fabric of this club and it’s players for many years to come.
Brad’s invaluable contributions to Rangers Baseball Club for his tireless services on and off the diamond has also seen his uniform number, 76, retired by Rangers in recognition of his numerous contributions to not just Rangers but the baseball community as a whole.
