Dane Wright inducted as Life Member

It is with great honour that we induct outgoing Rangers club President Dane Wright into Life Membership  for his many years of dedicated and valuable service to the club.

Dane Wright first started playing with the Hornsby Heights Baseball Club (prior to it’s almagation with Berowra to form Rangers) as a Junior in the Summer of 1990/91 playing in the U11’s. Given the Wright families predisposition for going above and beyond and despite his junior years, Dane would volunteer his services helping in the canteen as well as scoring his brothers games for several years.

With younger brother Liam joining the baseball fraternity, Dane assisted his parents coaching the U8’s tee ball side prior to the introduction of the U7’s division. Dane continued to play for what would become Rangers throughout his Junior years in advancing through the U12’s to U16’s before making his Senior debut pitching for the C2’s at the age of 15. Dane would play in Rangers Baseball inaugural season in 1996/97 before taking a brief playing respite before rejoining in the very successful A grade teams coached by fellow life Member Peter Powers in the 2001/2002 and proceeding seasons.

Dane, along with his brother Aiden, joined the Rangers working committee in 2002 helping with grounds before also taking on his chief role as Senior delegate to the Pacific Coast Baseball as well as Senior Vice President of Rangers Baseball in 2006. Dane would continue to act as both committee member and player for the next 5 years before being elected Rangers Club President in 2011.

Before stepping down as Club President in 2014 Dane would also add Junior and Senior Coaching Roles for the U12’s, U14’s and F2’s as well and can be credited for many of the initiatives that Rangers has initiated over his years of involvement with the club. Dane’s wealth of knowledge and experience in his executive committee positions has proven invaluable to Rangers Baseball and his 20 year tenure with the club is gratefully recognised with Life Membership in 2014.
