Rangers D1’s Win Winter Grand Final

It was days such as this one that made me proud to be part of the Rangers Baseball Club. In front of a fantastic and enthusiastic crowd, Hayley Bell and her D1’s posted a classy 11-2 victory over a very good Kissing Point side taking out the Winter 2015 senior premiership.

Liam Wright very deservedly taking out MVP honours, although it was very much a team effort right across the park with every player contributing solidly with bat, ball and in the field. It capped off what had been an already impressive season for Rangers, who sported the best 11-2-1 record at season’s and and were deserving and humble champions.

In the earlier final, the Rangers E2’s couldn’t quite replicate their form of a fortnight ago going down 5-13 to Greenway whose only loss of the season had been to Rangers. Despite a strong start Rangers just couldn’t post enough runs to mount any significant pressure and gave up too many scores in the middle innings they couldn’t peg back come the final innings. It doesn’t take away from what was a fine season and to have two Rangers teams in a senior final made for a great afternoon.

It would be very remiss of me not to mention the incredible crowd support we had up at Rofe Park. Players, friends, family, neighbours all set up camp and cheered the teams on for both games, which I can assure you the players do hear and draw inspiration from. So on behalf of the club and both senior teams a very appreciative thank you to all.

Lastly a shoutout to everyone who turned up early to get the field playable not just on the weekend, but throughout the season. Along with the team scorers, and committee members behind the scenes, you are the unsung heroes who get the team on the park each and every weekend.

A fantastic weekend and we very much hope to see you all back in Summer. So Register Now if you haven’t done so already!
