Almost but not quite was the theme of the week with two of the three seniors teams getting up for the second week in a row. The C2’s didn’t have it quite all their own way this week but still notched up an impressive 15-14 victory over North Ryde. The E2′ put on another run scoring clinic beating Ryde Eastwood 33-5. They’ve now scored some 80 runs over their past three games!
Lastly the D2’s couldn’t quite get the victory in a toughly fought game against Ryde Eastwood at George Kendall going down 4-6 despite out hitting the opposition. Game Changer report is as follows:
Despite hit advantage, Rangers D2’s drop 6-4 game to Masters Baseball
Rangers lost 6-4 in six innings at George Kendall on Sunday, despite outhitting Masters Baseball 11 to 6. For Rangers Richard Yeates was again perfect at the dish, compiling a walk, a hit by pitch as well as singling in the first inning.
Masters Baseball never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on an error and a two-run triple by YOUNG Tak PARK. After pushing across one run in the top of the second, Rangers faced just a 3-1 deficit. An RBI single by Nigel King fueled the Rangers’ comeback. JUNG WOOK HAN ended the inning by getting Grant Lacey to strike out.
Masters Baseball quickly matched the Rangers’ strong inning with a two-run inning of its own in the second. Masters Baseball scored on an error and an RBI single by HAN.
One run in the top of the third helped the Rangers close their deficit to 5-2. An RBI single by Brad Rockwell set off the Rangers rally. Finally, HAN got Kevin Dinn to hit into a fielder’s choice to end the threat.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the fifth, the Rangers faced just a 6-4 deficit. An RBI double by Rockwell and a fielder’s choice sparked the Rangers’ rally but as was the case most of the game, Rangers couldn’t plate runs at crucial moments to secure the victory.
Brad Rockwell racked up three hits and two RBI’s on the day with Matt Payne and Nigel King also combining for two hits a piece. Grant Lacey was sublime on the mound totalling 14 first pitch strikes and just two earned runs over 5 innings.
Matt Raymond also racked up a dozen excellent Hot Dogs for the team, softening the blow of Rangers first loss in nearly a month.
