Matt Payne hits 100th Career Home run for Rangers

Matt Payne hit his 100th career home run for Rangers this past weekend making good on a promise he’d made to his sister shortly before she passed away. Sally had asked Matt to “hit a homer for her”. Matt said he’d “hit her 100”. It took 16 years but he finally dedicated his 100th round tripper to his beloved sister on top of pitching a complete game in a Rangers 14-3 victory over Masters.

Matt has been a great part of Rangers for over 20 years. Volunteering on the committee, designing and administering the Rangers website and social media pages, running senior trainings, helping with juniors, numerous fundraising, club and charity events plus far too many other things to mention.

Matt’s 100th home run for his sister, in addition to the home runs he dedicated to his parents and his dear friend Brad Rockwell marks an amazing milestone for both himself and the club.

I hope we can all raise a toast and congratulate him on this amazing achievement and for his valued service to the club.
