Grant Lacey capped off a remarkable day for the Rangers E2’s by hitting for the “cycle” in the last regular game of the season for the Rangers E2’s. Grant hit a single, triple, double and a home run in four consecutive at bats to achieve what is possibly one of the most difficult milestones in baseball next to a perfect game. On top of that, Grant thew a 101 pitch complete game in Rangers 21-6 victory over the visitors in arguably one of the most complete single player performances by a Rangers player in recent history.
After posting what has been an already stellar Summer, Ben Ebbeck followed up on his clutch, two out, bottom of the last, game winning shot last week, by blasting a rare last innings “Grand Slam” this week, clearing the decks for his 5th RBI of the day. Adding not only to his team leading extra base hit tally, but seeing him amongst the team lead in stolen bases as well.
Not to be outdone, Andrew Yeates tallied no less than six infield assists in the field whilst scoring 4 runs on 3 hits including 4 stolen bases plus a home run, his fourth of the year, giving him the team lead in runs scored, infield assists and home runs in a very composed day at the office.
Despite the remarkable milestones, a very balanced team effort has plucked Rangers from the finals wilderness . The prospect of joining their late game counterparts the E1’s in finals, along with the second placed B1’s making for a very good year indeed.
