Winter week 4 results and match report

Rangers battled hard across the grades during week four of the Winter 2014 season with only the C2’s continuing on their impressive undefeated run for the season with a 17-4 victory over the Stealers at Marackville. The D2’s once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with crucial errors costing them any chance of victory going down to Ryde Eastwood, whilst the E2’s  went down to the Macquarie Saints 18-7.

Rangers fall 10-7 to Ryde Eastwood

Richard Yeates did all he could to give the Rangers a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Ryde Eastwood, as the Rangers lost 10-7 in seven innings at North Ryde RSL on Saturday.
The Rangers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Richard Yeates, who went 3-3 against Ryde Eastwood’s pitching. He singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Grant Lacey looked sharp on the rubber. Grant held Ryde Eastwood hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one. Ryde Eastwood was sparked by Dong Yeop Kang and Sang Hoon KIM, who teamed up for seven hits and five RBIs.

The bottom of the first saw Ryde Eastwood4 take an early lead, 4-0 with some strong batting. The Ryde Eastwood attack began with a double from Do Yun KIM. A groundout by Sung Kon MOON then moved Do Yun from second to third. Dong Yeop homered, bringing home Do Yun and Pil Soo PARK. The scoreboard lit up again for Ryde Eastwood4 when KIM scored on an RBI single by Kyu Back CHOI.

The Rangers scored one run in the second inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the second, the Rangers scored on an error, bringing home Kevin Dinn. Matt Raymond bounced back strongly after the initial onslaught keeping Rangers in the game from the mound but Ryde Eastwood never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring five runs on two errors and two singles.
